Lynch Detached

This is my ink drawing of Director David Lynch. The master of the 'detached' image. His strange and intriguing films keep me coming back for more and more.

SWAP IT

Here it is!

A short film for Oxfam written, designed and animated by myself and Benji over the last 4 weeks or so. It was drawn and animated in after effects with the patterns created with bits of rubber cut up and dipped in ink to create 50s style patterned shapes. Then the finishing touch is thanks to our mate Stu Earl and his cracking sound design.
Swap It parties are a great idea that will be taking place near you very soon. Instead of wasting your money on more and more stuff, 'Swap It' for something you do want with somebody else, be it a book, clothing, a cd etc, you ll feel happy and so will everyone else and its free!

illustration Friday - Homage

This is my homage to the 'Man in Black' Mr Johnny Cash. I bought this old worn out picture frame in a charity shop for one pound and thought the texture of the backing card was an interesting canvas so I used a dip pen and ink to illustrate the great Johnny Cash.

Mr Whistler

This is a preview of a short animated film for Oxfam with Mr Whistler, the one man band that I am working on at the moment with my directing partner Benji. Its going to be used at 'Swap it' parties to encourage people to stop buying more and more stuff and start swapping stuff with others instead. It will be finished in a couple of weeks hopefully!

Guardian "White People"

This is for a spread for The Guardian Guide this Saturday about the "Best of British White People". Featuring Sir Patrick Moore, Boris Johnson, Terry Thomas, Barbara Winsor and John Terry, a strange selection. I only had 4 hours to do this so the background is pretty limited and my hand hurts from speed drawing.

Robot Johnson

This is a comic strip for FAT CHUNK (see details below). Its the Tale of Robot Johnson the struggling Jukebox from Mississippi that travels to the crossroads to sell his soul to the Devil (The Fonz).

FAT CHUNK is a collaborative comic book featuring a collection of different artists, each contributing work based on a theme. We find artists from all over the world, based in any discipline, from well-known comic titans to fresh new webcomic talent, from influential street artists to custom toy designers, and throw them together to make one hefty and exciting comic.

The aim of FAT CHUNK is to produce a great comic book featuring diverse approaches to the theme, and to open up each artist's work to new audiences. To shout the word about artists we love, and show off some great untapped talent.

FAT CHUNK VOLUME ONE : ROBOT will be a 144-page book published in May 2008 by Slave Labor Graphics. VOLUME TWO will then follow in November 2008.

While away in Sydney in December I began taking photos of tourists doing touristy things, like taking photos of the sites or their family. They re going to be an A2 print with about 50 illustrated tourists hope to be completed in a few weeks.

Print Week

This was a fun piece I completed this week for Print Week, with a cheesy glamour host spinning a game show wheel and the different printing options as the winning categories.
